Pictures above of the new Aire were taken New Year 2009.

We stayed in the Aire at Les Menuires in Feb 2011. It was excellent, reasonably flat and everything seemed to work. The Flot Bleu is operated by a token or by credit card. A door opens and there is access to fresh water and toilet empty. Grey water can just be emptied into the drain next to the Flot Bleu without need to access the Flot Bleu. In reality someone used a token to open the door to the cupboard and, if you asked politely, most people were more than happy to allow you access to the water/toilet empty as long as you didn't get in their way and prevent them from doing theirs. This sort of access came with the understanding that when you paid to open the cupboard then others may approach you to use it for free. I paid to open the cupboard once and then used it courtesy of others. In fact a small group of us Brits would contact each other when we were going to open it. The electricity was a different matter..... you need a token from the token machine to put into your meter/electricity point. There is a separate electricity token machine to the Flot Bleu. This token machine only accepts French credit cards. The Tourist Office don't sell the tokens and the Gendarmerie just shrugged their shoulders when asked for tokens. It is the Gendarmerie who administer the electricity tokens and they couldn't be less helpful.... despite my best French we were greeted with a Gallic shrug and an "I don't care attitude" Half way through the week a couple of Gendarmes turned up to re-fill the token machine. When they left, it was like a UN Food drop with people desperate to get the tokens.... they ran out within half an hour. I managed to get a kind French man to get some tokens out on his credit card and I paid him cash for them. I have emailed the Tourist office complaining about this but I don't hold out much hope. All in all the Aire is excellent. It is kept reasonably free of Snow, Drive in access is good. There is a supermarket in the main resort plus a couple of ones in other parts of the resort. There is quite a bit of space in the Aire and we had no problem getting a space at half term. The main resort is a good 10-15 minutes walk from the Aire but can be accessed using the Preyerand lift which takes walkers and skiers.

Skiing details:

The Aire is directly next to the piste so you can ski-in/ski-out and there is a lift pass office directly across the piste from the Aire at Preyerand. Les Menuires being what it is - a purpose built ski resort - nothing is too far away. The skiing is second to none and whilst the lift pass is expensive it is actually very slightly cheaper than similar places (Paradiski, Espace Killy, Portes de Soleil) There are numerous ski hire shops but mostly in the main area of the resort.
