Update 2012/13

I stayed here last season, and this season I stayed here 8th Dec to 14th Dec on the promise of everything opening early in Tignes. Unfortunately the lifts in Brevieres to access Tignes 1800 ( Le Boisses) to get the ski bus up further, or to access direct Le Lac & Val Claret didn't open until the 15th ( Doh!). I had to drive the 12km up to Val Claret every day (in chains for three of them!) to stay in their big car park. It was worth the drive though.

Its such a shame they don't allow overnight motorhome parking in the upper resorts. Le Brevieres is a great place to stay though, especially now there is a place next to the bin station to empty our toilet cassettes. I highly recommend the local bar Vincents for Internet access. It is run by a friendly Dutch couple. The water is still via the mountain spring trough half way up the village.

Thanks to Paul Million for the 2012/13 update

Free car park opposite lift station completely motorhome friendly apart from limited facilities. Fresh water available from local village water trough, 500metres (need water containers) . No public toilets. No obvious facilities for grey/black waste. Visited March 2010

Resort Details:

Tignes-les-Brevières is a traditional village and is much more picturesque than the other villages that make up the resort of Tignes. It has grown in size in recent years and now offers many more facilities whilst still retaining its charm.

Skiing Details:

Tignes-les-Brevières The ski season is very long in Espace Killy with the lifts opening around December 1 and closing after the May Bank Holiday around May 6-8. Skiing down to Brevières is usually very good late season due to the extensive use of snow cannons on the runs to the village. Connections to the rest of the Espace Killy are fast via a gondola then a chair. It takes about 20 minutes on the lifts, followed by one piste into Tignes Le Lac. Alternative routes are available, either 3 chairs up and the same piste down, or one chair to Tignes les Boisses followed by a free bus up to Tignes. Returning to Tignes les Brevieres requires just one chair lift (Chaudannes) which takes 6 minutes from Tignes le Lac. There is a nursery slope with a free drag lift.

Espace Killy Tignes is a high altitude, snow-sure resort enjoying year round skiing on the Grande Motte Glacier. Together with Val d'Isère, Tignes makes up the Espace Killy, one of the world's greatest ski areas. The 300km of marked pistes cater for all levels and tastes with great off-piste, long wide blues and two snowparks (with another, even better one, over in Val d'Isère). For many advanced and intermediate skiers, the huge variety of slopes here makes this a resort without parallel. The glacier and Tignes' high altitude, make this resort for a great early or late season ski holiday destination. The whole area is serviced very well by an efficient lift system and the five 'satellites' that make up the resort are all linked by free bus.
